Summer is coming and no one is more excited than me!!! I love everything about Summer, even the heat, and humidity!
Summer skin care should change since most of us have changes in our skin needs during the Summer. Here are my top tips for transitioning to Summer skin care.
- Cut down on time in the shower
Workouts, hours outside, and humidity cause many of us to bathe too often. This can actually dry out skin. Keep your showers short (3-5 min) and water temperature down. Moisturizer is still a must even during Summer months.
- Use a lighter face wash
As the weather becomes more humid, swap out your creamy moisturizer or oil cleansers and use a gentle foaming cleanser to prevent breakouts. This is a definite must if you have oily acne-prone skin.
- Exfoliate more often
If you are prone to oily skin, try a weekly alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) treatment.
- Use Vitamin C
Our Brighter Day Vitamin C, B, E and Ferulic serum is an ideal summer ingredient. It adds extra protection against sun damage. It also promotes healthy collagen production, reduces inflammation and hyperpigmentation. Use it right after cleansing and before adding other products. Click here to buy
- Wear sunscreen all day, every day.
You know I had to say it. Sunscreen is the most important part of your routine. It is not just for prevention of skin cancer, but also protects from discoloration and other signs of skin damage/aging. I suggest 30 SPF + and apply it to all areas of skin including eyelids, ears, backs of hands, and lips.
Have a safe and happy Summer!
